The 2010 Ford Explorer is a lighter-duty midsize crossover SUVs with a smooth-riding and features comfort-oriented cabin. This truck-based SUV is ideal for buyers with hauling and towing needs. The 2010 Explorer comes in three models: the base XLT, Eddie Bauer, XLT Sport, and top-of-the-line Limited. Powered by a competent V6 or powerful V8, this workhorse is available in 2WD or 4WD and capable of towing 7300 pounds. Redesigned for 2010, it has a new, more fuel-efficient engine and a surprisingly smooth highway ride. Explorers are available in two-wheel drive and full-time four-wheel drive. Most Explorers on the lot will be equipped with the optional power-folding third-row seats accommodating seven passengers. Ford is expected to build the 2011 Explorer on a car-based platform rather than a truck-based one.
